Important information - please read

In line with advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, The Victorian Government has announced that Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions will be reinstated across metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire from 11:59pm on Wednesday 8 July. There are only four reasons for those in these areas to leave home - shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise, study and work - if you can't do it from home.

VicRoads response to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions (July 2020)

Customers in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire

All licence testing, including computer-based tests, will be suspended for customers that live within metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. We will contact all impacted customers directly.

Customers in non-restricted areas

All licence testing and appointments for customers who do not live in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will continue to operate as part of VicRoads return to service plan. If you live in a non-restricted area and have an existing test booked in metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire, we will contact you to reschedule your test at an alternative location.

Hardship application for prioritised licence testing

Based on the latest advice from the Chief Health Officer and the Department of Health and Human Services, we are continuing the following in non-restricted postcode areas:

Licence testing will be conducted at your nearest Customer Service Centre to limit your need for travel.

Mandatory face coverings

Customers visiting any of our Customer Service Centres in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire must wear a face covering, unless an exemption applies. Visit the DHHS website for more information on wearing face coverings.

Overseas licence holders

If you are an overseas licence holder, you can continue to drive on your overseas licence, as long as it is valid. To check how long you have to convert to a Victorian licence, enter your details in the form on the Overseas drivers page.
