Please read the terms and conditions before making your appointment.
Eligibility
To convert your New Zealand (car or bike) licence or learner permit to a Victorian licence, you need to:

Be at least 18 years old.

Have a current New Zealand licence/learner permit.

Not be disqualified from getting a Victorian licence.

Your original New Zealand licence.

Pass the appropriate Road Law Knowledge, Hazard Perception and Drive Tests (if you're less than 25 years old).
Bring to your appointment

A completed licence application form.

Your original evidence of identity.
- Proof that you live in Victoria. If you don't have any proof of your Victorian address (e.g. a bank statement, utility bill or rental agreement), make sure you get someone to sign the Victorian residence declaration on the licence application form.
- Your original New Zealand licence.
- A valid Certificate of Particulars from the New Zealand Transport Agency, dated within the last 3 months.
- Your glasses or contact lenses (if you'll need them to pass an eyesight test).
- Any medical reports (if you have a medical condition or take prescribed medications which could affect your ability to drive).

If you take prescribed medications or have a medical condition that could affect your ability to drive, you'll need to tell us and provide relevant medical reports.
Do you have another licence or permit?
Expired licence or permit
You won't be able to book a licence conversion appointment online if:
- Your New Zealand driver licence or learner permit has expired by 5 years or more, and
- You don't have a current overseas licence.
What you need to do
Visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre to book an appointment for the Road Law Knowledge, Hazard Perception and Drive Test.
Important reminders!
Don't forget to bring all the right documents along with you for your appointment. If you're not eligible, or forget to bring something, you will not be able to convert your licence and will not get a refund of your booking fees. You'll need to book and pay for a new appointment.
